Sometimes, you just have to trust, knowing that God’s ways aren’t your ways and that a divine pattern will appear as you keep your eyes on The Son.

Can you imagine being the wise men?
Feeling prompted to follow a star.
And then wondering—
Why weren’t we warned that Herod was bad news BEFORE we went to see him instead of after?
Why weren’t we prompted to go to the scriptures for our answer?
Looking at it only from their perspective, things may not make sense or might make them doubt their ability to receive revelation.
I am reminded of something my cousin told me about the disproved geocentric model of the earth, the theory that the earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around it.
If you look at the path of the other planets with the earth as the center point, it doesn’t make sense. It’s a jumbled group of lines.
But if you change the perspective to the sun being the thing everything revolves around, suddenly, a beautiful pattern emerges.
After the wise men’s visit, a domino effect of prophecies played out..
The riches given probably helped Joseph and his family get to Egypt “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.” (Matt 2:15)
Even the tragic event was foretold—Herod killed the babies in Bethlehem, “Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, […] Rachel weeping for her children.” (18) and a way towards comfort was provided for those suffering.
And then, Joseph and his family came back and lived in Nazareth, “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.” (23)
A divine path appears. Prophecies were fulfilled.
Like the scientist shifting the perspective to Earth revolving around the sun, we too need to shift our perspective. If we try to get everything to make sense with the perspective revolving around us, it doesn’t make sense.
Sometimes, you just have to trust.
Knowing that God’s ways aren’t you ways.
And that a divine pattern will appear as you keep your eyes on The Son.
