"Overcoming the world is not one defining moment in a lifetime, but a lifetime of moments that define an eternity."

There were once two frogs that got stuck in a large pit. Other frogs looked over the edge and told them they would never make it out.
The two frogs tried jumping out of the pit. The other frogs kept on dissuading them, shouting for them to just give up.
One frog finally listened. He stopped jumping and fell to his death.
But the other frog kept jumping. The frogs kept yelling down to him that it wasn’t worth the pain. He jumped even harder and finally made it to the top.
The frog who succeeded was deaf and spent the whole climb up thinking the other frogs were cheering him on instead of telling him to quit.
I thought of this story last night as I read of Joseph Smith “laboring under extreme difficulties” (JSH 1:11) and struggling against a “war of words and tumult of opinions.” (JSH 1:10)
What did he do when confronted with his extreme difficulties?
He became deaf to the things of the world and asked God. (James 1:5).
And God answered him, providing him with a way up.
So many voices are shouting down at us. Telling us what to do.
But only one voice truly matters.
Ask of God, and keep on jumping.
He will answer and provide a way up.
